One of the departments under Public Works is the Waste Water treatment plant, which is run by Mr. Angel Pena. Angel has worked for the City of Haskell for 26 years and manages the plant on a daily basis. He ensures that the plant and the City follow and stay in compliance with all of the EPA and TCEQ regulations and laws.
The treatment plant produces approximately 270,000 gallons of reclaimed water on average per day. The water is tested daily by Angel, and weekly by the City of Abilene water lab. The water is 99.9% clean and purified. After treatment, we submit water samples to the lab at Abilene every Thursday and the results of those tests are submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
Angel takes great pride in his job and a very proud ownership of the treatment plant. If you visit the plant you find that the grass is always green and cut. His equipment is in similar fashion, which ensures proper compliance with the state and federal regulations. The City of Haskell is lucky to have an employee of Angel’s caliber working with and for us.
Angel welcomes citizens to tour our treatment plant; he is on sight Monday – Wednesday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and Fridays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You may call Angel Pena at 940-864-2154 to set up tours of the plant.
