Haskell Memorial Hospital has two openings for front desk/emergency department registration positions. Previous experience filing insurance, data entry, and filing/organizational skills are preferred. Qualified applicants will have the ability to work with deadlines and handle responsibilities of answering calls, helping patients and other daily job duties. High school diploma is required.

This position will be the first line of patient experience, registering patients, answering phones and verifying insurance, in addition to other duties as assigned. You will have frequent contact with employees, patients, contracted service personnel, other healthcare providers and the general public.

Rolling Plains Detention Center – Correction Officers 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Rolling Plains Regional Jail and Detention Center-Haskell, Texas under the management of Lasalle Corrections is seeking to hire Transport Officers that will be responsible for the custody, discipline and transfer of inmates/detainees assigned to the unit in compliance with company policies, procedures and jail standards established by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and contracting agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Search for contraband and provide security.
  • Responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork for the transfer of inmates/detainee/ USMS is in order.
  • Properly prepare and maintain records, forms and reports as appropriate.
  • Provide custody and security of inmates/detainee/ USMS.
  • Shall fully inspect the transport vehicle. During inspections, the officer will account for all tools & equipment. Inspect the interior & exterior of the vehicle. Search for any contraband and ensure that all cages are firmly attached and do not pose a security risk and is safe to drive.
  • Read, review and properly apply information found in inmate/detainee records which is related to the inmates/detainee/USMS health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
  • Adhere to the transport post orders set forth by the company.
  • Maintain logs as indicated by the applicable standards.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Perform other duties as determined by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or GED required.
  • CDL preferred in the State of Texas. Must be able to obtain CDL.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a Jailers license / pass E-QIP.
  • Previous corrections experience preferred.

Rolling Plains Detention Center – Transport Officer 

SUMMARY:
Maintain custody, care, and control of inmates. Monitors inmate activities and enforces the security department’s policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Must not have any tickets or accidents within the past three years.
➢ Your driving record will be submitted and reviewed.
➢ Must be able to work various hours.
➢ You will be required to carry a cell phone and be on call.
➢ Must be 23 years or older.
➢ Ensures prompt and appropriate assistance to inmates/detainees/USMS in the event of injury, illness, and emotional trauma.
➢ Prepares reports and maintains daily logs as required.
➢ Initiates disciplinary reports.
➢ Conduct shakedown for contraband materials, either individually or as part of a specialized team.
➢ Promotes facility cleanliness and reports needed for maintenance and/or repairs.
➢ Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

TCOLE license preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license/ Class B CDL W/Passenger endorsement. Class C preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successfully complete training courses and on-the-job training as required by facility training standards. Experience in a correctional setting is highly desirable. Must be representative of worthwhile qualities to which an inmate can identify. Must be emotionally stable, understanding, and philosophically attuned to the objectives of the facility.

Rolling Plains Detention Center – Lieutenant

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform mid-management level supervisory functions in the facility as it pertains to the security and administrative control of the facility. Work involves scheduling, training, and supervising staff, as well as maintaining order and discipline among inmates, detainees, and offenders. Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Organize and conduct inspections and searches of inmates, detainees, and offenders and their living and work areas.
  • Prepare records and reports as assigned.
  • Maintain log and verify inmate counts.
  • Foster a team effort among correctional officers providing support, motivation, training, and assistance to them as required.
  • Report and investigate all unusual occurrences.
  • Direct the work of employees to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance for Sergeants and assist Captains.
  • Supervise daily routine of the security section.
  • Enforce post orders and ensure that correctional officers are familiar with shift assignments.
  • Handle disciplinary reports and prepare reports of disturbances and shift activities.
  • Function as shift supervisor: supervise, instruct, train, and ensure the safety of assigned employees, inmates, detainees, and offenders; schedule employees, inmates, detainees, and offenders work and off-duty time; and assist in formulating security and work procedures.
  • Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security; court, feed, and supervise inmates, detainees, and offenders in housing, work and other areas accessed by stairs, steps, and ladders; and perform security of various assigned areas involving long periods of sitting and standing, and climbing stairs, steps, and ladders to reach the assigned areas.
  • Supervise and provide custody and security of inmates, detainees, and offenders including observing actions of inmates, detainees, and offenders, squatting and bending to perform “pat” and “strip” searches of inmates, detainees, and offenders; restraining and securing sometimes assaultive inmates, detainees, and offenders; and transferring and transporting inmates, detainees, and offenders by walking or riding in various vehicles such as trailers, vans, buses, etc.
  • Supervise and provide security of inmates, detainees, and offenders performing technical skills such as construction, maintenance, laundry, food service, and in varied industrial and agricultural operations which involve climbing stairs, steps, and ladders, and climbing around the inside and outside of buildings; work outdoors and indoors without air conditioning; workaround motorized or moving equipment and machinery; subject to all types of weather.
  • Respond to emergencies including climbing stairs, steps, and ladders while searching for escaped inmates, detainees, and offenders; hearing calls for and calling for help; giving first aid at the emergency site; carrying an injured or unconscious inmate, detainee, offender or employee various distances to safety up or downstairs, steps, and ladders; use force and deadly force to include the use of chemical agents and firearms to control inmates, detainees, and offenders.
  • Read, review, and properly apply information found in inmate, detainee, and offender records which is related to said individual’s health and safety and to the security of the facility; provide appropriate information to other personnel; comply with all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; enforce inmate, detainee, and offender disciplinary rules; and supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms and reports.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must be TCOLE certified or must be able to obtain TCOLE Jailers License.
  • Must be able to obtain OC Spray Qualification.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three years of experience in a correctional institution required.
  • 5 years of experience in a correctional setting and 1-year experience in a supervisory position preferred.
  • Must be mature and able to command the respect of both staff and inmates.

Rolling Plains Detention Center – Food Service Manager 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Directly supervises offenders assigned to the dining area. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary kitchen area, food preparation area, tools and equipment and assisting in the service and preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with LaSalle Corrections, state and federal directives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
➢ Oversees inmate worker program; creates and implements inmate workers orientation forms; trains and orientates the inmate workers in their required duties including proper sanitation and handwashing procedures; assign the inmate workers their daily kitchen tasks, supervises
inmate workers to ensure they are doing the tasks in an organized and timely manner and delivers verbal direction and warnings when needed.

➢ Prepares, assists, or instructs inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of a variety of food items in accordance with departmental work production standards, standardized recipes, and work instructions.

➢ Follows assigned facility housekeeping and safety practices in all preparation, oversight, and serving of correctional facility meals.

➢ Checks in deliveries ensuring that the proper items are delivered in a timely manner and that the food comes in at the correct temperatures; stocks the incoming food and supplies in their proper places; stocks all frozen and perishable items immediately upon delivery; stocks all other foods and supplies within an hour of delivery.

➢ Compiles weekly kitchen inventory; records and maintains information in the computer inventory system; maintain a current physical inventory of all food and supplies that need to be ordered; orders groceries and other kitchen supplies; adjusts menu if needed due to the increased cost of food.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
➢ Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED required.
➢ Wage-earning experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management or eighteen months of correctional custody or law enforcement experience required.
➢ Correctional or institutional food service experience preferred.
➢ Correctional custody or law enforcement experience preferred.
➢ Experience in the supervision of employees or offenders preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

➢ Ability to obtain a TECOLE license.
