The Development Corporation of Haskell (DCOH) has been busy this time of year. It is the end of our fiscal year as well as the beginning of our next year. This means budgets, paperwork and tidying up details from the end of the year.
Texas Representative Drew Springer will be holding a Town Hall meeting on October 3 from 2-3 p.m. at the First Bank Texas meeting room. This is a great time to get an update from the legislative session and hear about issues facing our state. Rep. Springer is always great to talk with and we enjoy having him in Haskell. I hope you can attend.
We are also gearing up for our fourth year of the Knox-Haskell Rural Leadership Program. That starts next week October 6. We have a good group of individuals, and we are excited to kick off the new year.
We also have the Possibilities Tour scheduled for October 21. we will be showcasing buildings in the downtown area that are available for sale or lease or just to showcase their revitalization efforts. You will be able to walk through these buildings, talk to owners and reminisce about days gone by. There are a lot of great buildings around our square with unlimited possibilities. We hope you will take time during homecoming to see these buildings. If you are a building owner and would like to showcase your building please call DCOH at 864-3424.
The cloud seeding program has been wrapped up for the year. This year we participated from May – August with great results. This project is split between the City of Haskell, Haskell County and the DCOH. It brings much relief to our farmers and ranchers and they contribute tremendously to our local economy. Below is a map of all the places that were seeded: http://haskelltexasusa.com/2017/09/cloud-seeding-map/
The DCOH office will be relocating. We will be next door to the Chamber of Commerce on the east side of the square. It will be about a month before move in, but we hope that when we do you will stop by and say hello.
